1 GCSE Languages (Revised)
Speaking Tests: Summer 2019 Support Events – Autumn 2018

2 GCSE Languages: Speaking
Background Up to 2018, centres used the ePortfolio application to upload a sample of speaking tests for moderation With the recent revision of specifications, speaking tests will now be examined, and centres are required to provide speaking tests for all candidates This change necessitated a new resource for centres, replacing ePortfolio, which only allowed for ‘one at a time’ upload of files Following consultation with a group of teachers and development throughout 2018, eSubmission has been created to facilitate easy upload of multiple files from centres to CCEA

3 Summary of Changes Legacy Specification New Specification Unit 1:
Recorded & Unrecorded tasks (4-6 minutes each) Unit 2: 7-12 minutes recording (2 role plays and 2 general conversations) Internally conducted and assessed Externally moderated Internally conducted Externally assessed Both tasks assessed by the centre Marks for both tasks submitted via eCandidate Record Sheet All recordings for all entered candidates externally marked. This can be done by individual or multiple candidates. Users also have the ability to split the cohort into groups within application if they wish Files can be uploaded with limited validation Files go through enhanced validation before upload. Error message explains why file has not been accepted. Uploaded files have duration and file size reported onscreen so users can see any unusual information Only lead teacher can see progress of uploads Teachers can see overall progress of uploads, as well as within any groups (if set up). Exams Officer will also have an overview of progress. Lead teacher must complete the process when sampled candidates’ files have been uploaded Lead teacher must complete the process when all candidates’ files have been uploaded
