4 Gaining Access to SPIN Visit http://www.spin.infoedglobal.com
Click “Need to create a new profile?” Fill in your information and click save. You will receive an to complete the setup of your profile once approved by Grants and Contracts. You may also use SPIN on campus without a login, but will not be able to save your filters or searches.

5 Running a Basic Search A basic search can be executed by simply typing in the words or text for which you wish to search. SPIN provides a modern, full-text search that is run against the entire record. You may search for any component of an opportunity, such as: Opportunity Title Sponsor Name Funding Opportunity Number Field/Subject Matter Eligible Applicant Types

6 Some Search Tips: Use double quotes to wrap multiple words in to search for the exact phrase. Insert a hyphen prior to a word or phrase to exclude records that contain it. Insert an “or” in between two words or phrases to specify that results containing either parameter are acceptable. Utilize parentheses to dictate the order of operations of the search, similar to a mathematical equation.

7 Filters Category filters can help you refine your results based on your eligibility criteria. Filters include Applicant Location, Applicant Type, Project Type, Project Location, and Citizenship. Be sure not to place too many filters as it may restrict your search. If you are signed in your filters will be automatically saved. You can edit the filters through the link below the search bar.

8 Filters Click the edit button to open the filters.
Navigate through the different filters at the top of the screen. Use the arrows to make your selections for each filter. Click Save and Exit when you are done.

9 Conducting the Search Begin your search by typing a query in the search box. You may expand each funding opportunity to view additional information.

10 Saving a Search Click on the Save button and name your search.
You will have the option to have your search results ed to you. Complete the fields with your preferences to receive s. You can view and edit your saved searches whenever you login through the tab at the top of the screen.

11 Keyword Search Keyword searches identify opportunities based on InfoEd’s classification. Under the Search tab, click InfoEd Keyword Search. Click Select Keywords. Browse the options and make your selection using the arrows.
