The Scaleup Programme 2019 60 innovation-led companies will be provided with specific support to grow and scale This document sets out: Aims of the Scaleup Programme Offer to participants Methodology and Selection Process Profile of ideal candidates Impact figures from the pilot Scaleup Programme Funded by Innovate UK Headline £160M. Catalyst - for translational research: £60M plus £10M from DFID where relevant to international development TSB launched first call in October. Centres £90M for ‘a small number’ of centres, inc up to £10M for a ‘Centre for agricultural informatics and metrics of sustainability’. Plans for establishing the centres are under development; the centres are expected to build on existing facilities, in public and private sectors.

Scaleup Programme Aims
The ScaleUp Programme aims to support a highly selected range of businesses with rapid exponential growth from circa £1m to £100m, via the support of an experienced Scaleup Director and Scaleup Board

The Scaleup Offer Access to Scaleup Board (expertise, knowledge & connections) Up to 12 days of fully funded support A Scaleup Director will account manage each company The Scaleup Director will identify key challenges for scaling such as: Connection to next stage growth funding Accessing talent Accessing infrastructure Strategic partnerships Merger and Acquisitions Structuring for global growth Developing scale-up leadership Implementing international market strategies International Markets Accessing Finance Talent Acquisition Innovation and IP Exploitation Leadership & Mentoring Infrastructure

Scaleup Programme Methodology
Screening Interested companies complete EOI Evaluation of EOI Reviewed by a panel Applicants with a scaleable business selected for a site visit Site Visits To shortlisted companies to assess suitability Scaleup Board Evaluation Site visit reports evaluated by the Board and a decision about acceptance made Implementation Account managers appointed to each company and the process of developing and implementing a support action plan begins Screening Evaluation of EOI Site Visits Scale Up Board INPUT & FINAL SELECTION iMPLEMENTATION

Pilot Programme Facts & Figures (2018)
29 companies were selected for the pilot programme in More than 100 plus sessions were organised by Scaleup Directors and Board with companies to review their strategy around market expansion, accessing funding and finance, talent acquisition, evaluation of IP & infrastructure growth 45% of the companies which highlighted internationalisation as their main challenge managed to secure new collaboration agreements or established their presence in the international markets 50% of the companies which highlighted access to finance as a main challenge have successfully secured growth funding via grants/debts/equity investment (circa over £20m)
