1 PIR CHANGES

2 PIR – PIC Launching of The Provider Information Collection (PIC)
It will change from a Pre Inspection Questionnaire to ongoing monitoring The four different forms will be replaced by one To date CQC have been working closely with providers to develop the new system, undertaking user research to test aspects of the new PIR so that we are able to refine and test again. The next steps are to test working through the new PIR from start to finish with small number of providers and to continue refining the system and questions.  This will be followed with a few providers starting to access the new PIR in October of which I am the first and started yesterday! Following CQCs consultation process they will be launching a provider Information collection (PIC) which is an electronic system developed and tested with providers The key changes to the PIR are that it will expand its remit from a Pre-Inspection questionnaire to also include ongoing monitoring and link to the ‘Quality matters’ commitment.  Instead of being an annual submission the frequency of updates will vary by question with providers will be able to access their PIR all to time to make amendments.  Instead of being an annual submission the frequency of updates will vary by question with providers will be able to access their PIR all to time to make amendments.  , for instance if you have elements of community and residential settings at a location you would currently get two separate PIRs to fill in, within the new system you will have everything in one place but still the opportunity to outline the differences you may have.  The research sessions have involved working through specific tasks on the PIR one-to-one/small groups with a researcher and a provider participant.  A wide range of providers have been involved for instance different service types, different roles within the organisations, sizes, geographical locations, level of IT experiences. The research sessions have tested various aspects of the system so far, examples include logging on and accessing the system, understanding of questions and structure of the form, how we move from annual to more frequent updates. Its been developed to be an easy user experience for those who use computers and those who don’t.

11 You can move from one section to another
You can either If you save and return it shows as in progress, if you submit, it shows as completed. Once all sections are completed then you can submit to CQC , but I only received it yesterday so I’m not at that stage yet! There is not a print feature but the system is available all the time, you can go in and see what you wrote, change it, or let another manager look at it.

12 Questions in PIC Questions about how you implement or apply human rights principles (fairness, respect, equality, dignity and autonomy) to your service? Specific work you have undertaken in the last 12 months to ensure your service meets the needs of those with protected characteristics? (your answer should include any work done to improve care for LGBT people) What training have your staff undertaken, what is the impact on the service? Im not allowed to screen shot questions, and I need to let you know that the system is a continually developing product so question I get now might change when it goes live for all. age; disability; gender reassignment; marriage and civil partnership; pregnancy and maternity; race; religion or belief; sex; sexual orientation.

13 Any Questions? Remember I’m no expert just a manager trying to figure it out as I go along.
