Some conjugated verbs are followed directly by an infinitive. Others are followed by the preposition à or de before the infinitive. accepter de cesser de essayer de penser à

*Place object pronouns before infinitives.
J’hésite à dire la verité à Frank. J’hésite à la lui dire.

Note the use of the infinitive in the following sentences:
Je suis heureux de faire ta connaissance. Catherine est contente d’aller à Paris. Nous sommes tristes de partir. adjectives DE infinitive

The infinitive is also used after the prepositions pour , sans and avant de.
pour for sans without avant de before

Je travaille pour gagner de l’argent.
Prends de l’essence avant de partir. Ne pars pas sans mettre ta ceinture. *The infinitive is used after prepositions like pour (for/in order to), sans (without), avant de (before).
