It has two sites on Teesside employing over 160 people and is now one of Europe’s largest providers of custom manufacturing services to blue chip petrochemical and speciality chemical companies as well as to smaller companies with niche applications. The role is accountable for leading Environment, Health and Safety, Process Safety Management and Security services across the organisation. Main tasks: Provide visible and active leadership and promote the integration of good EH&S and Process Safety Management with business decisions Seek to ensure compliance with the Company’s EH&S, Process Safety and Major Accident Prevention Policies, relevant legislation, regulatory guidance and industry good practice Drive the continuous improvement of the organisation in both process safety and personal safety performance to reduce the risk of injury, illness or loss of life, adverse impact on the environment and local community, loss of property and productivity, and damage to company reputation Seek to ensure that the organisation fulfils its obligations as an Operator of two Upper Tier COMAH facilities Seek to ensure that all aspects of the EH&S Management System (work processes, standards and procedures) are implemented and maintained Establish and maintain effective channels for communication and co-operation with employees, neighbours, emergency services, regulatory authorities and other stakeholders Implement and maintain oversight of key Risk Control System elements Provide clear direction and support both within the EH&S Department and across the wider organisation Manage and maintain effective Emergency Response and Security arrangements

Required skills: National Examination Board for Occupational Safety and Health (NEBOSH) Diploma (or equivalent) Professional experience within the Chemical Industry, particularly on a high hazard, regulated chemical plant Comprehensive understanding of relevant legislation, associated regulatory guidance and up-to-date awareness of relevant industry good practice Human Factors experience preferred Root Cause Analysis trained, along with incident investigation experience Experience of dealing with regulators and other key stakeholders, and specifically with COMAH Safety Report submissions Credible and confident communication skills both within and outside of the organisation Good organisational and planning skills, and attention to detail The ability to work on multiple tasks at one time, and to work under pressure and to deadlines with minimal supervision Must have a full UK driving licence Must be eligible to work in the UK Location: Middlesbrough & Billingham Remuneration: A competitive starting salary plus group personal pension scheme, private healthcare and other competitive benefits.
