Polio Advocacy at Urs Shah Sharafat Miyan, Bareilly, March 2007
Urs Dargah-e-Shah Sharafat Miyan is an annual spiritual congregation, at Bareilly, Uttar Pradesh. The event draws around 100,000 underserved devotees from different parts of India. Date of the event: 28th – 31st March 2007 Venue: Dargah Shah Sharafat Miyan, Shahbad, Bareilly Polio intervention at the event was planned and implemented by Health, UNICEF & NPSP-WHO

Fast-track communication response to P3 cases in Moradabad
Saifi community focused mobilization at Zone 7 in Moradabad WPV case found in the Saifi community at Peetal Basti, Zone 7 in May 2007. 25 households of the Saifi community with 22 children in the age group 0 – 5yrs. Polio partners organized an orientation meeting with the local community representatives in the build up of the July SIA on 27th June, 2007. Community representatives committed to extend full support during the upcoming polio rounds.

A joint appeal was issued by all faith leaders.

Follow-up : Shahar Imam with the DM inaugurated booths in Barabanki Urban. The Imam & the purohit of the Nat community adopted a booth each in Peerpatawan & in Dewa respectively. Vyapaar Mandal also adopted booths in Dewa. Vyapaar Mandal held a community meeting a day before the July SIA round in Jaitipur village in Harakh block to mobilize XR families. UNICEF SMNet & other partners distributed joint appeal on the booth day & during house-to-house visits.
