How Our School Will Use Kickboard Kickboard and Families

3 Our School Goals We are working toward these school culture goals:
Fill in this slide with your school goals. What goals will Kickboard be supporting? What kind of culture are you trying to achieve at your school?

4 What is Kickboard? Kickboard is a digital tool used by teachers and administrators to reinforce positive behavior choices in real time. Students can earn or lose points for their behavior choices throughout the school day. When a student changes classes, the next teacher and administrators can see that student’s behavior history from the day so far. Kickboard shows trends in student behavior for teachers and families. Kickboard promotes school-wide consistency in expectations.

5 Kickboard’s Data Privacy Policy
Although we hope it goes without saying, Kickboard will only use personally identifiable information from students’ education records to enable school officials and parents to access and use Kickboard. Your child’s personally identifiable information is encrypted in transit to and from Kickboard. In addition, all personally identifiable information is stored on secure servers behind firewalls by our hosting providers. Consistent with guidance from the U.S. Department of Education, all the servers used by Kickboard are located in the United States.

6 Kickboard At Our School
Give parents a quick overview of how Kickboard will be used at your school. Maybe review what a “good” student report would include - i.e. 35 points per week or above is a good week - or describe how behaviors will be assigned in each classroom. You may also want to review why you chose to use a point/dollar-based system for behavior Behaviors: Explain categories of behaviors, point values, and school-wide expectations Pro tip: include a screenshot of your daily activity page Consequences: Consequences can be a GOOD thing! Explain positive and negative consequence logic; things that trigger a consequence flag, like school-wide rewards. Note - parents will NOT see consequences on the parent portal.

7 Parent Communication Fill in this slide with the ways your parents will receive Kickboard information. Will you be sending home weekly student behavior reports? Will you be using the Family Portal so that families can see their student’s behavior in real time? Pro tip: some schools use Kickboard to track family involvement, rewarding students dollars/points for parent attendance at conferences, meetings, etc.

8 Kickboard Family Portal
Point Summary The student’s current point balances for the day, week, and school year. If applicable, the bank balance (i.e. how much of the year-long balance the student has left to spend on rewards) is listed as well. Behavior Log  A list of the student’s behavior records, including any comments attached to those records by the teacher. The name of the staff member who entered each record The date and time the behavior was recorded The number of points each record is worth  The Family Portal allows families and students to stay aware of a student’s behavior records.

9 Family Portal Login Instructions
Download the Kickboard app or visit Select your role as Parent or Student Select ENTER ACCESS CODE Enter the student’s birthday and the access code from your Kickboard access letter Follow the instructions on screen to verify your and set a password Review these instructions with families. However, they are also written out on the access letters you will hand out to them. Make sure to emphasize that once they enter the access code and birthday, the system will ask them to enter and then verify their address, as well as set their own password. They will then log in using only their address and password moving forward. They can create as many accounts as they need to per student so that multiple family members can log in with their own credentials. Students can create their own accounts as well.

10 Guiding Questions to Ask Your Child
How do you think your week went? Are you earning more positive behaviors? How many points are you trying to earn next week? What is your plan to earn more points next week? Tell me about what happened when you earned this behavior. Use this slide to review how parents can use Kickboard information at home to reinforce your goals and expectations.
