Mongol’s methods of governing
1 – Conquered people were forced to pay tribute (taxes) to the Mongols but otherwise allowed to maintain their culture & lifestyle.
2 – Mongol rulers in China allowed freedom of worship for all. This reduced the threat of rebellion by conquered peoples.
3 – Mongol rulers encouraged intermarriage with conquered people. This made the Mongols seem less like invaders & more like fellow citizens.
