3 Rome started out as a small village of huts near the river Tiber and surrounded by seven hills.

4 How did they influence the Romans?
Who were the Etruscans? How did they influence the Romans?

5 The Etruscans Ruled Rome between 620 – 510 BC, originally from an area just north of Rome. They were famous for being great farmers, artists and commerce minded. They taught the Romans the art of building, how to create a sewage system and introduced them to their religion.

The Etruscans occupied the region to the north of Rome, between the Arno and Tiber Rivers. The Romans were first a subject people of the Etruscans and later their conquerors.

9 Explain the following Monarchy :
Meaning a system of ruling which left all the decision in the hand of a single person, the king. Republic : a system of governing which divided power and responsibilities between a number of persons who represented the states and its people.

11 Why did the people of Rome want an end to being ruled by kings?
Because the people of Rome wanted a system that could represent all citizens and not place all the power into the hands of one person.

12 Governing Rome Who were the plebeians and who were the patricians?
Patricians– were the wealthy nobility Plebeians – were the common citizens The place where the representatives met was called the Senate. Who was left out of the process of governing Rome? The Plebeians, and so they revolted.

13 What Does S.P.Q.R stand for?
It is the motto for the city of Rome, in Latin meaning The Senate and people of Rome (Senatus Popolus Que Romanus)

14 What are the Decemviri? A code of Laws. A set of ten laws that were etched on bronze tablets and placed in a public place for all to see.
