What are the aims of this holiday?
To provide outdoor learning experiences for the children. To develop the children’s key skills, including communication, teamwork and confidence. To celebrate all the children’s hard work in Y6. To have fun!

What to pack... Hand luggage: mid-morning snack; packed lunch and drink with a screw lid; throwaway camera (optional). Please ensure this is labelled. Suitcase: Please see kit list in pack. Please provide towels as these are NOT provided by the centre: however bedding is provided. PLEASE DO NOT PACK EXTRA MEDICINE IN THE SUITCASE (THIS MUST ALL BE GIVEN TO THE FIRST AIDER).

Company we will be using: JCA
Very established company which specialises in providing learners of all ages with an environment that supports development, encourages participation and creates a memorable time away. Over 20 years of experience at organising school holidays. Excellent reputation: all centres are staffed with fully qualified instructors.

Rooms Spacious, multi-bedded dormitories for children.
Members of Glebe staff will be stationed in rooms within the children’s block(s) so they are always on call. Most rooms have en-suite facilities. Complimentary bedding, but you MUST bring towels. A member of JCA staff is on call 24 hours a day. At night, JCA staff patrol the grounds. Centre doors are secured and security is in place at all entrances. Children will get to nominate 3 children they’d like to share with; JCA doesn’t confirm room allocations until just before the trip.

Food The centre is used to hosting school parties. They are used to every type of eater. Nutritional demands/allergies can all be catered for. Here is a sample menu: Breakfast: a choice of cereals or cooked breakfast. Lunch: baguette & wrap bar with choice of freshly prepared fillings (tuno mayo, tandoori chicken, cheese, cajun roasted red onion & peppers) Fish fingers with curly fries and coleslaw Salad bar Dinner: Soup of the day Then a choice of a hot meal* Homemade beef lasagne with garlic bread Vegetarian pasta bake Breaded scampi and chips Strawberry & white chocolate cheesecake *All comes with a choice of salad/peas & carrots

8.00 am Breakfast* / Get ready for the day 9.00 am Your first activity begins. 10.30 am 15-minute break 10.45 am Second activity. 12.15 pm Lunch* 2.00 pm Third activity. 3.30 pm 15-minute break 3.45pm Fourth activity. 5.15 pm Free time 5.30 pm Evening meal* 6.30 pm Free-time* 7.15 pm Evening activity begins. 8.45 pm Return to rooms. Wash up, brush teeth and get ready for bed. 9.00 pm Quiet time in rooms. 10.00 pm Lights out. Time to sleep! *Example times: each party will be given an allocated time for all meals and activities are not fully confirmed until a week before departure.

Electricals and cameras
The children may bring an inexpensive, disposable camera but NO electronic games, mobile phones, communication devices or tablets etc.

Emergency If you need to contact us in an emergency in the daytime, please phone school on The party will be in regular contact with school and they will probably be able to answer your queries. For emergency contact in the evening, please phone the centre ( ) and ask to speak to Miss Baines/Mr Reed.

Contacting you… The party will be in regular contact with school and the main office will probably be able to answer your queries. Text messages will be sent from the school daily to update you on the party’s progress. Dojo will NOT be used: we have no guarantee of wireless connection on the site so will not be able to use/rely on this app. Please direct all messages during the week to the school office.

Behaviour Throughout the trip, we will naturally expect all children to maintain a high level of good behaviour. Misbehaviour may result in loss of privileges, e.g. loss of activity time/disco time.

Pocket Money This is OPTIONAL. Children are allowed to bring up to £10 in small denominations. It is their responsibility to look after the money for the duration of the trip.

Letters from home These are OPTIONAL. If you would like to write your child a letter, then please pack this in your child’s suitcase. It is up to you if you would like to write your child a letter.

Medicines and First Aid
Please make sure you have handed in to your child’s class teacher, your Medical / Consent Forms, along with relevant medicines, including hayfever/allergy tablets/medicine. The child’s name, dosage required and times of administration must be clearly indicated. Medicines must not have exceeded their use-by date. If your child carries an inhaler or epi-pen, please ensure that they bring it with them and that we have spares. Children must administer their own suntan lotion. Please teach your child how to do this. We have qualified first-aiders accompanying the group. They will attend to first aid and children’s other medical needs.

Coming Home… Our approximate return time on 14 June is 4.30 pm. The school will use its text message service to keep you informed. Please ensure that the school office has an up-to-date mobile phone number for you.

What to do next… Please fill in and return the medical forms (23rd May). Please get your child to sign the behaviour conduct sheet and return this form (23rd May). Please give medicines and administration instructions to your child’s class teacher (5th June). Please fill in contact details: up-to-date mobile numbers and addresses of where you will be overnight. Make one packed lunch for your child and prepare the hand luggage and overnight luggage.
