1 An introduction to Weebly and other important study sites
Year 13 Biology 2019

2 Why use Weebly? Weebly is an information site where I share information with you. Year 13 Biology has a LOT of content. You will need to have access to all of the powerpoints, reading, worksheets and videos that we work on in class, and this is where you will find it (NB – Most of it, some of the files are too large to upload and will be ed to you). If you are away, you can go into Weebly and open the ‘Daily lessons’ powerpoint to find what you have missed. Remember that this is an outline only, and you will need to fill in the blanks yourself. You can use Weebly for revision, to find study sites and for inspiration and helpful tips.

3 Finding Weebly Go to: missvoss.weebly.com
Remember – there is symbol, just dots. You must put this in the address bar. Something different will come up if you do a google search.

4 Navigating your way around Weebly
The ‘Science’ home screen will look like this: Click on Year 13 Biology

5 The Home Page This is where you will find the ‘Course outline’, ‘Year planner’ and ‘NCEA course slip – parents’.

6 Year 13 Biology Main page Scroll down until you find the main three sections:

7 The drop down menu This shows the topics. Just click on the topic that we are studying. Our first topic is ‘Animal behaviour and plant responses’.

8 The ‘What we’re doing in class’ section
This is where you will find the ‘SLO’s and Keywords’ – open each of these and copy then save into your Y13 Biology folder. You have got a paper copy of these, but will also be useful to get another copy. In the centre will be copies of the main powerpoints and worksheets that we will be using in class, under ‘Class resources’. Open the ‘An overview of behaviour’ powerpoint and save it in your folder. As we work through these in class, it is a good idea to copy each and put it into your folder. Sometimes you will have work set for homework and will need to access resources from this section. Open the ‘Daily lessons’ powerpoint, in the third column. This is where you will go if you have missed a lesson to catch up (remember, that this is only an overview and you will still need to catch up on the bulk of the work).

9 Important dates At the top of the page (with the pictures) is a section where important dates and field trips for that topic will be (ignore the dates on this one – just an example). The ‘Updated’ part lets you know when I have gone into the site and made changes or added more resources. This is usually for the daily outlines.

10 Videos There are a range of videos for each topic. Scroll down to the bottom of the page to find the videos. Click on one.

11 Other study websites There are a range of websites that are set up to help your Biology studies. Each has pros and cons and presents information in a variety of ways. Over the next few days have a look at the following websites: Pass Biology No brain too small NZQA Resources Studyit Learncoach Studytime

12 Well being Part of doing well in Year 13 and coping with stress is ensuring that you look after yourself. Take a look at the Well being page for lots of tips and inspiration, useful videos and websites and videos.

13 Trying to stay motivated
