2 Directions and Tips for Editing/Printing
PLEASE READ THESE DIRECTIONS/TIPS FIRST!  THANK YOU!! Don’t like the section headers? Change them! Not enough room in a particular section? Play around with font size. Decrease it enough to make it all fit. Still can’t make your text fit? Re-consider what you you’re typing. Can you say the same thing with fewer words? Don’t forget to change your contact info. in the bottom box on the first page! Feel free to add tables to organize your text (on the next page example- I added a table for my spelling words and resized it to fit in the space. Don’t waste ink! Looks great in black and white! WARNING: If you select to print the file in black and white or grayscale inside PowerPoint the background graphics may disappear. To print in black and white, change the color settings with your printer. (Graphics also print better if you select “High Quality” or “Best” when printing.) If the above does not work, right click on the thumbnail of your slide and click “Format Background”. Next, on the task pane to the right, click the little picture icon. Select Picture Color. Select the down arrow next to Recolor and choose Grayscale. (This may vary a little depending on your version of PowerPoint.) If you’re printing at school and you only have a printer with black ink, you don’t have to do anything except click print! WHEN PRINTING: Make sure you only print pages (slides) 4 and 5. Those are the two pages with the actual newsletter. The first time you create a newsletter, save it as “(the date) newsletter.” For example – “August 7 Newsletter” Next week, open the file, change what you need to and then save with the current week’s date. This will save you from having to re-type certain things each week/month. Please do not me to ask for a version where you can move the graphics around. I CANNOT do this or I would be violating the terms of use for the graphics I use. I also cannot make changes to the layout of this template. If you don’t like the sections as is or need more room, consider renaming the sections to better fit your needs. Use the blank page with border only to create notes, type a bigger spelling list, etc. The next page/slide shows an example of the newsletter filled out like I would use it in my own classroom. It looks great printed in color or in black and white!

3 Rename sections to fit your needs!
ALL Text is EDITABLE! Rename sections to fit your needs! Resize text to fit the text boxes, change fonts if you want! Add your contact information at the bottom of first page! Add a table for your spelling words. Looks great in color or black and white! Use one page or both pages! Blank page with border only included!

4 Mrs. Baker-Barton’s Class Classroom Newsletter September, 2018
Ben Franklin Elementary Kindergarten Curriculum & Grading (See handouts) September Topics Language Arts: what letters do you know? We will sing songs, daily. What does a good listener look like (especially when the teacher reads a story?) Show me how you write your name. When answering a question, try to say a complete thought (not just one or two words). Mathematics: count from 1 to 10 for me. Can you write and read any of those numbers? Let’s make a pile of counters to show each of those numbers! Science: engineering; how do engineers build? Social Studies: how do rules help us?; Johnny Appleseed Classroom News Some of you may have seen the school supply list that is posted on the District’s web site. If you have purchased some or all of the items, please feel free to send them into school with your child. (I will be sure to make good use of them for him/her.) If possible, we can always use tissues and Clorox wipes and hand wipes. Please don’t forget that there is a 1:30 dismissal for students on Thursday, October 11th. Also, school will be closed on September 19th and October 8th. Please complete and return: 1.) The Parents As Partners form –A.S.A.P. 2.) The November Conference Poll (by 10/2) 3.) The bottom portion of the pink Classroom Discipline Plan – A.S.A.P. 4.) The dismissal procedure plan for your child. - needed when you leave tonight. Mrs. Helenanne Baker-Barton Principal: Susan Galloza School Secretary: Tacy Pavel

5 SNACK MUST BE SEPARATED FROM LUNCH.
Extra Information If you have not completed a form about your child’s dismissal procedures yet, I will need to know by tomorrow morning. This is a safety issue. (This form has been provided on the tables at Back to School Night.) Lunch time I am not with the class during lunch. Therefore, please talk to your child about how important it is to eat during that time. Water Bottles When the weather is warm, please send your child to school with a water bottle that is labeled with his/her name. Daily Folder Check One side of your child’s folder will be for papers to be “kept at home”. This side needs to be emptied out each night. The other side will be for any papers that need to be returned to school. Name Tags Please do not forget to have your child wear his/her name tag each day during the month of September. Uniforms Navy blue shirt with navy blue or khaki bottoms (view the District website for pictures). Don’t forget that since we have air-conditioning, the classrooms get very chilly. There are, however, areas of the building, such as the gym/lunchroom and the hallways, that are not air-conditioned. In addition, Velcro sneakers are a wise shoe choice. Special Area Schedule to be announced soon All special area classes take place in the afternoon at 1:29. ________________________________________________ REMINDER: If you have not purchased lunch for your child for the week of 9/17 or have not been approved for free lunch, it will be necessary to start packing your child’s lunch. __________________________________________ Also, the a.m. drop off location (for car riders/walkers) will be at the Pre-k doors on the large blacktop area on Finlaw Avenue. For now, I have been told that the p.m. pick-up location for car riders/walkers will be at the first grade doors which are to the right of the pre-k doors when you are looking at the school from that standpoint. Daily Snack Please send in a healthy snack with a juice bag or juice box and a napkin in a labeled bag each day. SNACK MUST BE SEPARATED FROM LUNCH. Thank you!

6 Dear Families, Lunch and breakfast envelopes that are sent home on Fridays in your child's folder are not to purchase food for the next week.  Instead, they are to purchase food for a full week after that Friday. Lunch/Breakfast envelopes are due every Monday. If you cannot get them in on Monday, you may turn them in first thing Tuesday morning. If your child will be late arriving or absent from school the day the lunch envelopes are due, you must call the school by 9:15 or meals WILL NOT be ordered for your child for the week. If you pay online at PAY PAMS, you will still need to return your child's lunch envelope in his/her folder with the confirmation code written on it. Please see the district’s website for menus. I have tried to make the classroom a warm, happy and friendly learning environment. Many educational games and activities can be played with and enjoyed in our classroom. The children are given an opportunity to interact with these materials daily. Because of this, it will not be necessary for the children to bring any of their toys from home unless otherwise instructed to do so. Please visit to view the school district’s website. On the right upper-side of the screen, you’ll find a tab titled “Our Schools”. Scroll down to “Franklin” for some specifics about our school. Thank you for your time! If you have any questions, please contact me through at Your partner in teaching, Helenanne Baker-Barton
