How the location effects our understanding
Jekyll’s places vs. Hyde’s places Jekyll’s weather vs. Hyde’s weather The study is the birthplace of both knowledge and evil: an allusion to The Garden of Eden Only the 19th century could give birth to this novel (Freud, Marx & Darwin)

The Corrosive Nature of the Relationship
Jekyll loosing control (Park Bench, graffiti, incident at the window) Jekyll is being driven mad by guilt as both sections of his personality wage war on one another – he even worries Hyde will destroy his statement. Jekyll does not fully regret what he has done: he describes Hyde as “ape-like” yet he pities him.

Advanced Techniques Write a paragraph about one of the following techniques: Allegory Foreshadowing – indicating what the ending will be during the beginning of the text (think films or books with obvious endings) Symbolism – including a word or object that stands for a theme or idea e.g. the apple in the Garden of Eden. Explain how the technique is used. Use the PEE structure.
