Educational Goals of Camp PAWS
Instill empathy, compassion, and respect towards animals, humans, and the environment Educate youth on our mission and related topics

Where is Camp held? Education Center Throughout the shelter
Dog/Cat areas Outside classrooms

Staff Roles Curriculum design and implementation Behavior management
Medication First aid Parent communication Safety and emergency procedures Supervise campers (and giving permission to do things)

Assist with Clean up and set up Passing out materials Helping and engaging with youth during activities Being excellent role models

Volunteers Need to Be… Comfortable working with youth
Punctual and reliable Positive Calm and patient Willing to follow directions from staff Aware that they are here to volunteer and will not be able to participate in some camper activities

Camp PAWS Session 1 5 weeks of session 1 camp Monday-Friday, day camp
Start dates: June 19th (ages 6-8) June 26th (ages 9-11) July 3rd , no camp 7/4 (ages 6-8) July 10th (ages 9-11) July 17th (ages 6-11)

Monday-Friday, day camp Start dates: July 31st (ages 6-8) August 7th (ages 9-11) August 14th (ages 6-8) August 21st (ages 9-11) August 28th (ages 6-11)

Camp PAWS JV Shifts Mon, Tues, Thurs, Fri: 2:30pm-4:30pm Camp Schedule During JV Shift 2:30-3:15pm Guest Speaker 3:15-3:45pm Activity 3:45-4:00pm Closing Circle/Camper Pick-Up 4:00-4:30pm After Care (games/activities, time with animals)

Working with Youth When you arrive, staff will introduce you to campers Always use positive words Treat all campers equally Communicate clearly and respectfully Avoid sarcasm Talk to the campers Per HSHV policy, youth should not be picked up or sit in laps Allow staff to handle behavior situations Remember, we want campers to have a good experience, and leave here loving animals!
