Thank you ……. Let me start of by saying that the people and the government of PNG, and ADB have experienced a growing partnership since 1971, when the Government of PNG joined the Bank. This growing partnership has built on from strength to strength and today, I want to share with you all a glimpse of this incredible journey. At least for the last 10 years, starting from year 2010. Since 2000, the ADB’s annual support to the government of PNG has steadily averaged within $300-$400 million. However, from ___ to 2019, it increased

4 Key Results… from 2010 to date
346.5km of roads in the Highlands Region rehabilitated and upgraded. 430km of the Highlands Highway will be rehabilitated and maintained effectively. 27 bridges constructed Navigational Aids installed and effectively maintained Improved Transmission and Distribution of electricity New/Improved renewable energy and rural electrification Built 34 Community Health Posts and Health Centres Key Results… from to date

6 Aviation Sector… A flagship program
Civil Aviation Development Investment Program (CADIP) create reliance on aviation services for tourism and business, exports and imports, domestic freight, and social cohesion Financed using ADB’s Multi-tranche financing facility - $480 M Long-term program, multi-year, guaranteed financing, flexible Focus on improving 21 airports. CADIP delivered: Security and safety fencing - New Terminal Buildings - Runway extensions for larger aircrafts - 9 Fire trucks - Communications & aircraft landing instruments

Going Forward… Sector Focus… Indicative Resources for Commitment ( ) The next Country Partnership Strategy for and the Country Operations Business Plan for are expected to be approved by mid The new Plan will continue to focus on the Transport, Energy, Public and Finance sectors. In addition, ADB is also venturing into the Water, Sanitation and Hygiene, and the Education sectors. ADB’s total indicative resources is estimated at $1.713 billion, comprising; Actual Lending of billion; Non-lending of $200 million; and Cofinancing of $455 million.
