6 Concussion Please look up the Gfeller-Waller Law and familiarize yourself with it If an athlete is suspected of a concussion, I will evaluate. If it is serious, I will send them to a neurologist. If it is not, I will control the entire return to play. Typical out of play time is 2 weeks: 1 week for symptoms to stop, 5+ days for return to play exercise progression Every athlete diagnosed with a concussion by me or a physician has to do the RTP exercise progression. It is 5 days minimum. 3 of those days are practice related.

7 Nutrition 3 meals per day essential for energy
High carb, low fat meal 3-4 hours before exercise has been proven the best way to maintain energy Drinking sports drinks (Gatorade, Powerade) after exercise in SMALL quantities is beneficial ENERGY DRINKS ARE BAD! The high levels of caffeine actually slows down sugar absorption, which results in dehydration

8 What if my child gets hurt?
Encourage them to talk to me about it Do not immediately take them to the doctor unless serious because I can, most of the time, diagnose what is going on and take care of the situation so that you save money on a copay IF YOUR CHILD IS SEEN BY SOMEONE OTHER THAN ME I WILL NEED A NOTE SAYING THEY CAN PLAY AFTERWARDS. This is for liability reasons. Please contact the coach or me and let us know of the injury because sometimes we do not know and they can get hurt further if it goes unnoticed I am not perfect. I make mistakes. If I have not contacted you about an injury, PLEASE CONTACT ME! Like I said, I do not always know if your child is hurt
