3 Objectives Understand the role of Library Reps and what you are likely to be asked to participate in this year Find out a bit more about some of the key Library services you may be asked about Have an idea of what your agenda as a library rep will be this year

4 What does a Library Rep do?

5 Overview You are a Class Rep with a democratic mandate first and foremost. Consult your classmates and represent! You represent ALL students. Confidentiality.

6 Role Description Work closely with the Library on improving students' library experience Raise awareness about services on offer First steps: Make yourself known in your School. Save contact details of key Library and SA staff Feedback

7 Student Library Users Group (SLUG) 3 times a year
Library Reps + Library staff + DoRep Collect feedback in advance Send apologies if unable to attend / please try and send a replacement representative if possible Suggest items for the agenda Dates for this year (an will be sent out nearer the time): 29th of October pm 11th of February pm 1st of April pm

Books Journals Databases Research Enhancement Funds (to request new titles or additional copies) Inter Library Loans Reading Lists Number of copies/short loans One-to-one or group appointments

10 What you can help with Advise and provide feedback on library services e.g. circulation policies (fines and loan periods) Promote the resources specific to your subject area Promote library skills sessions or help us organise sessions for students in your School Help us improve student survey results e.g. NSS and PTES You Said We Did – we do listen and we do answer – help us use our communication channels to get the message out (follow us on Twitter and Facebook and retweet or share our posts) Your first task! Please encourage everyone to complete our survey- Journals V Study Spaces –
