The Alaska pipeline starts at the frozen edge of the Arctic Ocean
The Alaska pipeline starts at the frozen edge of the Arctic Ocean. It stretches southward across the largest and northernmost state in the United States, ending at a remote ice-free seaport village nearly 800 miles from where it begins. It is massive in size and extremely complicated to operate. free from ice 10/13/2019

The steel pipe crosses windswept plains and endless miles of delicate tundra that tops the frozen ground. It weaves through crooked canyons, climbs sheer mountains, plunges over rocky crags, makes its way through thick forests, and passes over or under hundreds of rivers and streams. The pipe is 4 feet in diameter, and up to 2 million barrels (or 84 million gallons) of crude oil can be pumped through it daily. someone who is windswept looks untidy because their clothes and hair have been blown around by a strong wind a windswept place has a lot of wind and not many buildings or trees to protect it 10/13/2019

Paraphrasing Paraphrasing is a reading and writing skill. Read a sentence or paragraph and then write the same ideas using your words. Paraphrasing is not copying. Good paraphrasing shows you understand other people’s ideas and can write them in a way that makes sense to you. One way to paraphrase is to rewrite sentences and change them into the passive form. Most sentences are written in active form. Therefore, if you can rewrite sentences in a passive form, you will be able to practice a good paraphrasing skill. 10/13/2019
