INDIA Proposal The vehicle warm up shall be based on respective Type I test cycle applicable for the class of vehicle. It is proposed that temperature measurement to monitor vehicle warm up condition shall be at spark plug seat instead of monitoring at various temperatures like coolant, oil, cylinder head / cylinder surface for various configurations like air cooled, water cooled, oil cooled or dry/wet sump, etc. Monitoring spark plug seat temperature is an unique and standardized location for all above combinations without any hurdle for both manufacturer as well as test authorities. Based on the above, we can finalize the minimum temperature acceptance criteria for the vehicle warm up to be measured at spark plug seat. Other CPs are requested to collect data on different class of vehicles to conclude on this point.
