Diversity of resistant and susceptible isolates. (A) Counts of genes with no nucleotide diversity in resistant and susceptible subpopulations. (B) Gene-wise nucleotide diversity (excluding invariant genes) in susceptible and resistant isolates. Among genes in which nucleotide diversity is measurable, it is similar between resistant and susceptible isolates even when drug resistance-associated genes and targets of independent mutation identified by Farhat et al. (24) are removed (P = 0.13).
