14. BIA Fire Programs
The OSG Director attended and presented at the Intertribal Timber Symposium in June.
BIA is working with the Solicitors Office on a new standardized template for Fire Cooperative Agreements.
BIA Forestry has Strike Teams based out of Billings, Montana available to assist tribes with timber sales upon request.
When requesting assistance to help with fire fighting, prepare a detailed 209 Form (Incident Status Summary) and submit for consideration by the National Interagency Coordination Center (NIFC).

15. Tiwahe Update
OSG and OIS Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) has been signed, fulfilling the OIG’s Recommendation #6.
The 14 IAM 2: Initiative Funding and Funding Increase Distributions has been published as of June 5, 2019, fulfilling the OIG’s Recommendation #7. This can be viewed at

16. Appraisal and Valuation Services Office (AVSO) MOU
The MOU between the OSG and the AVSO has been signed as of June 20, 2019.
The purpose of this MOU is to ensure that AVSO provisions for Real Estate Appraisal Services included in the funding agreements are executed and funded in an accurate and timely manner.
Requires close coordination between the OSG and the AVSO.

17. BIA – Office of Justice Services 2018 Report to Congress
A 2018 report to Congress on Law Enforcement Needs of Terminated and Restored Tribes has been prepared in response to FY 2018 Omnibus Appropriations Act, Public Law

23. Contract Support Cost (CSC) Workgroup
CSC Workgroup meeting has been scheduled for July 30 – 31, 2019 in Albuquerque, NM at the Southwest BIA Training Center.

24. Johnson O’Malley (JOM) Program Consultations
Congress recently updated the JOM Act to clarify the eligibility requirements for Indian students, to clarify the funding formula and process to ensure full participation of contracting parties, and to reconcile and modernize the rule.
BIE is proposing to update its JOM regulations to implement the JOM Act updates.
BIE will be hosting Tribal Consultation sessions on the proposed rule.
