1 Overview: Culvert Inventory Project

2 What is the project? Most counties need inventories of fish passage barriers Partially or fully blocking barriers Project is to assist counties in completing inventories Primary focus is the 14-county case area Still want to assist all counties Coordinate inventories during next biennium

3 How is the project being done?
Starting point is to assess what’s happened to date regarding inventories Sent a survey several weeks ago Will be honing in during next two weeks on remaining counties

4 What will happen during next biennium?
I will continue to work with you and coordinate culvert inventory actions upon request Some funding through WSAC will be available – priority will be the 14 case area counties WDFW is available and interested in helping, but need to coordinate so they can hire appropriate staff

5 What are the survey questions?
Have you conducted an inventory? If so, have you identified culverts that either partially or fully block fish passage? Have you prioritized culverts in need of repair/replacement? Would you like any assistance in moving forward? Do you have any advice for me?

6 What are the survey results so far?
12 Counties responded out of 39 About 2/3 have conducted inventories; several are updating those Some are interested in help from WDFW Of those with inventories, most have prioritized barriers

7 Any advice for Neil? Seek consistency regarding how barriers are being identified and prioritized Biggest challenge is managing/merging a LOT of data Manage the expectations of others; counties have a LOT of road miles and tasks and timelines will be challenging

8 Questions? Contact Information: Neil Aaland, WSAC Program Consultant (360)
