Has the current model of social care reached its sell by date?
I would leave out the context slide re demographics etc ...everyone know that. Etta to focus on old model deficits and possibilities for a new approach stuff.
I think the key thing we want to get across is the ‘different conversation’ focus i.e. your strengths based practice framework approach to deliver personalised inclusive rights based outcomes for people.
This is relevant to using a 1. assets based community focus (prevention) so the LAC / social prescribing etc and looking at what’s good in communities that can be built on to connect people.
2. Strengths based conversations and assessments with individuals and their families ..what matters, what’s possible and influencing more creative commissioning approaches to support people to design and shape their support arrangements.
We could be radical and suggest that we do away with/focus less on eligibility and spend more effort on more on particioation /conversations and connecting with individuals and communities and the outcomes of enabling people to be part of things whatever their living arrangements
3. People value what goes on between them and the social care practioners engaging with them and the quality and impact of this needs to be understood and a driver for change etc
