2 What are Brownfields? “Brownfield site" means real property, the expansion, redevelopment, or reuse of which may be complicated by the presence or potential presence of a hazardous substance, pollutant, or contaminant. Property where redevelopment is hindered by real or perceived contamination.

To assist in the redevelopment of properties that are dormant or underutilized due to liability associated with real or perceived contamination.

Planning & Application Properties that are NOT Eligible: Federal property National Priority List (NPL)/Superfund sites Leaking Underground Storage Tanks (LUST) sites Permitted sites Sites under orders

11 Application- Applicant Eligibility
Applicant must be a governmental entity or nonprofit Cities/Towns/Counties/Local Governments Regional Councils of Governments (COGs) Economic Development Corporations (EDCs) Redevelopment Agencies Federally Recognized Tribes Applicant must NOT be a Potentially Responsible Party (PRP) as defined by CERCLA Planning & Application
