What did Redi prove? Flies laid the eggs that produced the maggots. The insects did not spontaneously grow off of the meat.

SEXUAL REPRODUCTION = Two parents produce offspring that share characteristics of both parents.

HEREDITY = The transmission of characteristics from one generation to the next.

· Single-celled organisms grow when the cell gets larger.
