You Coach What You Know you know and how you teach.
Your experiences from swimming and in life help shape what you know and how you teach. Mentors and peers help provide avenues to different ideas. What do most all successful coaches have in common?
Knowledge of the sport. Passion for the sport. Competitive Motivated Charisma Communicators K - kids can see through your lack of knowledge….don’t fake it. Technical coaches. P - richard hell week 5 x as an athlete you can see the passion C - let the team know your goals M - Discuss your plans and actions and show them how they are integral C - Personality Dave Marsh C - Utilize a format and be consistant. Keep updated throughout the season...what stage they are in. Think of your coaches when you swam...what drew you to them and what did they do to get you to work hard? Be a master of psychology.

Engage your athletes Show interest in them as a person
Always be a builder of confidence Give each athlete at least one personal instruction every practice Be the catalyst for their energy and passion

What is the best approach for you?
Evaluate yourself Determine your strengths Find ways to reach your athletes Be as adaptive and diverse as your team Be YOU. Evaluate - video yourself coaching be completely honest with yourself My short answer is there IS no perfect style...stay with guidelines and “Make each day your masterpiece”
