1 Funding Pipeline and Collaboration
Helen Bowman Funding and Partnerships Children’s Services, East Sussex County Council

2 The Pipeline Approach The phrase ‘Pipeline Approach’ refers to a process which enables projects and partnership to be developed in advance in order to maximise external funding opportunities and successes These projects and partnerships go into a funding pipeline in readiness for the release of a relevant external funding opportunity Introduce self – recently began working in CSD as Funding and partnership PM but prior to this post worked within ASCH department developing and testing the pipeline approach to funding. CET and BIG – implementing a methodology to create a ‘pipeline of projects’ which are bid ready and can be used at short notice. ASC and PH wanted to test out the approach and within the context of CRPR programme. Aim: Create, test and embed a methodology for bid readiness for single organisations and partnerships Developing a proactive approach – recognising that the reactive approach is for partnerships is less likely to be successful due to time constraints

3 The Pipeline Approach Joint priorities agreed by partners
Step Six: Bid Submission Successful: Share learning Unsuccessful: Gather feedback from funders and share lessons learned. Keep project in the pipeline for future bids Step Five: Funding alerts Funding alert matches priorities, projects and partnerships Step Four: Business Case Business case established and agreed with all partners and senior management Step Three: Partnerships Partnerships developed and most relevant partners identified for specific projects Step Two: Projects Projects identified for development Step One: Priorities for inward investment Joint priorities agreed by partners A framework document is available which sets out the methodology in full along with local and national learning/examples and toolkits.
