3 Training in o&G Application and interview
Generally not until HMO 3; need O&G experience first, best via PVOG pathway (see RANZCOG website) 6 years of training programme with 3 years subspecialization MFM (high risk pregnancies) COGU (ultrasound) Gynae Onc (oncological surgery) Urogynae (pelvic floor work) CREI (reproductive endocrinology and infertility) Lap. Fellowships (not currently specific sub-specialty) Rotations – 6 months diploma obstetrics and one year HMO 6-12 months country rotation in 3rd year of training programme. Huge demand in rural areas Exams – diploma and Membership

4 lifestyle Working hours – 40-50 hours a week in training
Compulsory nights and long shifts Compulsory country rotation for 6-12 months Demanding – physical and emotional Part-time availability – college is supportive – 70% trainees are females with young families. New GEWG looking at female representation in college hierarchy Research and PhD grants from lead universities – 3 years after ITP Mix of private and public as a consultant Ability to sub-specialise in non-Obstetric areas Remuneration: $150k - $1m + depending on on-call / private vs public mix etc
