1 North American Unit Biomes

2 Biomes A biome is a specific environment that’s home to living things suitable for the climate. Examples are Tundra, Coniferous forest, Prairie, Deciduous forest, Desert, and Tropical rain forest.

3 Tundra Located in the Rocky Mountains. Very cold, harsh winters.
Frozen soil (permafrost) Small shrubs Polar Bears, Seals and walruses.

4 Coniferous Forest Coniferous trees dominate this region. These are trees with pine needles. These trees can survive colder weather. Snowy cold winters, Warm summers. Deer, Elk, wolves, bears, foxes.

5 Prairie Large grassland areas in the middle of the United States.
Buffalo, Elk and deer live in this area. Hot summers with mild winters. Deer, fox, prairie dogs.

6 Desert Long Hot summers with mild winters.
Little precipitation(rainfall). Cacti and sparse trees dominate this region. Lizards, Snakes and camels are examples of animals.

7 Tropical Rain Forest Large dense forest.
Heavy precipitation. (rainfall) Has the largest variety of plants and animals. Very warm and humid. Monkey, snakes, bats, Frogs, lemurs, jaguars.
