Silicone elastomers with high-permittivity ionic liquids loading
1.2.9 Silicone elastomers with high-permittivity ionic liquids loading Xue Liu DPC, Technical University of Denmark [1] [2] As we all know, PDMS has many excellent properties, such as stretchable, flexibility, hydrophobicity. It can be used in many fields, especially in actuators, generators, and sensors. But, the most obvious challenge the application of PDMS face is they posses low dielectric permittivity and need high voltage to drive them. One effective way is blending PDMS with a high dielectric permittivity fillers. [3] 1. Yao S, Cui J, Cui Z, Yong Z. Nanoscale. 2017; 9(11), 2. Trinh V L, Chung C K. small. 2017; 13(29), 3. Silicone elastomers with high-permittivity ionic liquids loading
1.2.9 Silicone elastomers with high-permittivity ionic liquids loading Xue Liu DPC, Technical University of Denmark Ionic liquids are a kind of liquid which is composed entirely of ions, and ionic liquids are liquids below 100°C Application Ionic liquids is a kind of liquid which is composed entirely of ions, and they are liquids below 100°C, or even at RT. ILs have many unique properties, especially high dielectric permittivity. They are also can be used in a wide rang of fields. Therefore, it is interesting to blend ILs into elastomers to increase their dielectric permittivity. In my work, the high permittivity elastomers were obtained from blending ILs into PDMS. The dielectric permittivity increased with the increasing content of IL. And the results of figure of merit of these materials shown that these materials have great advantage when used in actuators. Application of ionic liquids Ionic liquids have many excellent properties and can be used in a wide range of fields. It is therefore interesting to blend ILs into elastomers to increase their dielectric permittivity. 1. Qian W, Texter J, Yan F. Chemical Society Reviews. 2017; 46(4),
