2 What is Expository Writing?
Factual writing that explains or informs. There are 4 methods of organizing or arranging information in expository writing. Cause and Effect Chronological Compare and Contrast Problem and Solution

3 Cause and Effect Cause is what makes something happen.
Effect is what happens. Ex: An article about how the sun can be harmful to your skin if you don’t use sunscreen. Cause: Not using sunscreen and staying out in the sun. Effect: Skin damage

4 Chronological Order The arrangement of events in the order in which they happened. Ex: A manual that tells you how to put a desk together.

5 Compare and Contrast Shows how two or more subjects are similar and different. Ex: An essay about the similarities and differences between city life and country life.

6 Problem and Solution A problem is identified and a solution is given.
Ex: An article about global warming and what we can do to help slow it down.
