5 New Identity Do not let the sun go down while you are still angry…vs 27 …do not give the devil a foothold, vs 27. Do not let any unwholesome talk come out of your mouths…vs 29 And do not grieve the Holy Spirit of God…vs 30

6 Verses 17-19 We are that…

7 They are darkened in their understanding and separated from the life of God because of the ignorance that is in them due to the hardening of their hearts. Having lost all sensitivity, they have given themselves over to sensuality so as to indulge in every kind of impurity, and they are full of greed… (Ephesians 4:18-19)

8 Verses 20-24 New identity = new mind/attitude (be like Christ)

9 New Behaviour Verse 25-31 As we saw in the previous passages, living as a Christian demands that we grow up in our thinking: you have to learn to identify your own moods and behaviour patterns, to see which ones are going in the right direction and which ones in the wrong direction. In anger do not sin – put things right before the sun goes down vs 26 Do not steal any longer – work, do something useful, share vs 28 No unwholesome talk from your mouths – build up others Get rid of bitterness, rage, anger, brawling, slander – be kind, compassionate and forgiving.
