Respect is for all of us, not just the young people: “The apple doesn’t fall far from the tree”
Disrespect starts in the home, then the school, local church, community, nation, and world

3. Respect Respect is not just about saying “sir” and “ma’am”
R-E-S-P-E-C-T, found out what it means to God
What is it? Deep admiration for someone or something because of their abilities, qualities, or achievements

5. Respect for others… Who is this person? (Gen. 1:26-27)
God, Christ, H.S. (Mal. 1:6; Rom. 1:21)
Husband, wife (Heb. 13:4; 1 Pet. 3:1-7)
My Neighbor (Mt. 7:12; 19:19; Jas. 3:9; 1 Pet. 2:17)
Elderly (Lev. 19:32; 1 Tim. 5:1-3)

6. Respect for others… Brethren (Rom. 12:10; Phil. 2:29)
The devil (Jude 8-9)
Do I mistreat, slight, injure, revile, mock, sneer, etc.?

7. Respect for positions…
What position/role of authority is this person in? (Prov. 23:1)
Government (Ex. 22:28; Rom. 13:7; 1 Pet. 2:17), husband (Eph. 5:33), the elders (1 Thess. 5:13; 1 Tim. 5:17; Heb. 13:17), parents (Eph. 6:1-4), employer (Eph. 6:5; 1 Tim. 6:1)
Do I disobey, rebel, dismiss, etc.?

8. Respect for occasions…
Where I am? (Eccl. 3:4)
The worship assembly (Heb. 12:28; Rev. 4-5), the reading of God’s word (Neh. 8:5; Psa. 119:161), the place of the dead (Eccl. 7:2-4)
Am I non-serious, disruptive, distracted, absent, etc.?

9. Respect for property… What is this thing? (Ex. 20:17)
Property (Ex. 23:4; Prov. 22:28)
Do I damage property (consider our nation’s “property laws”), abuse, steal, etc.?

10. Respect for self… Who am I? (1 Thess. 4:4)
I have a soul and self-worth (Psa. 8:5; Prov. 5:9; Mt. 16:26; Acts 16:28)
Suicide, mutilation, impurity, etc.
