Bedfordshire and Cambridgeshire SC officers gave over 4200 hours in frontline deployments.

211 Lancashire special constables worked 4,180 hours throughout the week. During this time they made 29 arrests and assisted with 81 arrests. ACC Peter White said: “ We are proud of our Special Constabulary in Lancashire – day-in-day out they support regular officers and police staff to deliver high quality policing.”

34 employers released GMP SC officers for duties at short notice.

In South Yorkshire, 460 hours of policing had been undertaken by the Special Constabulary within the first two hours of requesting assistance. In Gloucestershire 2 SC officers were deployed to protect the local police station.

West Mercia SC officers gave over 2000 hours. 9 officers were released by employers to undertake policing duties. Between 24 and 53 Dorset SC officers were deployed every day over a five day period.

In Durham, by Wednesday, 134 duties had been volunteered for the next four days.
In North Wales the number of SC officers reporting for duty was almost double.

Avon and Somerset SC officers made 35 arrests, 25 intelligence reports and 67 stop and search over a six day period.

Merseyside SC officers worked closely with regular colleagues and a number have been recommended for commendations. North West Tonight (BBC local news) interviewed two SC officers from Cheshire and the Merseyside SC Chief Officer.

The Home Secretary personally thanked the GMP Deputy SC Chief Officer and wrote, expressing her appreciation for the contribution the SC made, to the MPS SC Chief Officer.

Special constables volunteered to work an extra 677 shifts in Cornwall to provide a reassuring presence on the streets. The Deputy SC chief officer said: “It is at times like these that we see the dedication and commitment of special constables to the policing of their local communities.”

8 forces provided SC officers in support of the Dale Farm policing requirement. They gave over 7,300 hours of operational duty.
