3 How to Help Room Parent PTO

4 Parent Service Hours You must submit them in the front office
Two due dates per year Make sure they have your name and are signed by the supervisor $20 for each hour not submitted on time

5 Contacting Teachers Teachers are unable to meet with parents at pick up time as their attention should be on the safety of the children. Please wait until 3:05 pm to meet with teachers or set up appointment. 6 Ambassador Trait Only students will be selected who embody that month’s trait This means students total will be chosen in each class As such, some students will not be chosen This will help make being chosen more authentic We selected a variety of traits that showcase positive life and social skills

Check regularly Set up to you for incompletes and low grades – Check that it did not reset your preferences If there is a problem, please have the student discuss it with the teacher outside of instruction time

11 Math Curriculum and Standards
If you are absent 1 day, it is really 1.5 days of a traditional program. Students must make up all classwork, notes, and homework if absent

12 Homework Policy Homework reinforces what has been taught in class and prepares students for upcoming lessons. Additionally, helps students develop self- discipline, responsibility, and organizational skills. Success in learning like anything else requires practice for mastery. Have students review work, read, math facts, and write

13 Grades Students will be graded on the following types of assignments:
Classwork (2 – 15 pts) Homework (4 – 15 pts) Notes (2 – 10 pts) Tests / Projects (50 pts) Labs / STEM (25 pts) 100% A – 93.5 A 93.4 – 89.5 A – 86.5 B – 82.5 B 82.4 – 79.5 B – 76.5 C – 72.5 C 72.4 – 69.5 C – 66.5 D – 62.5 D 62.4 – 59.5 D & below F

14 Late / Missing Work ABSENT Work (Absent: not in classroom during class time; regardless of reason) Student’s responsibility to gather missing work and see teacher if they need assistance (not during instruction time) Pick up worksheets in the “Absent” drawer for their grade Students have the number of days they were absent to turn in any assigned while they were gone Turn into the math or science drawer – write “ABSENT” at top of paper Any assignment that is due on the day a student is absent, is still due. Thus if not turned in, then late work rules apply LATE Work Students have 10 days after the due date to turn in any assignment Submit in the appropriate drawer (math or science) for their grade The assignment will have 10% of their score deducted. After the 10 days, there will be no credit given

16 Responsibility Focus for the children to learn to be responsible
THEY bring supplies, problem solve when they forget something, be prepared It is okay to not be perfect all the time Parents, take a step back from the classroom Give chores Check gradelink with your student Check agenda with your student

17 “Giving Tree” If you would like to help support any of the middle school STEMs, take an apple. All the items are inexpensive Thank you for your continuing support

18 Standardized Testing (STAR)
The Archdiocese of Los Angeles is using Renaissance Learning STAR testing in Reading and Math Done on the computer System will adjust test questions based on student response The students will take the STAR reading and math tests Three times a year. The first testing window is Now – We took Tuesday Scores are given to students after the testing window ends

19 Uniform Changes No Tights under shorts/skirts
Hair accessories must be school colors only and not distracting. No unicorn horns, puffy headbands, large bows, etc. Dress Code Violation Steps: 1st Infraction: Verbal Warning 2nd infraction: Written Warning (parent signature required) 3rd and subsequent infraction: sit out during Recess Excessive infractions may result in school suspension

20 Electronics Not on campus
Includes smart Watches Including fitbit type watches No use during class, recess, lunch, or during pick up line Do not call or text with your child during the school day

21 Drop Off & Pick Up Tardy if not with class when bell rings at 7:50 am.
Drive slowly in parking lot Students wait with teacher in designated area Must let teacher know they are leaving Younger siblings will not be released to older siblings, only to parents/guardians Watch all kids and keep them with you Children will be sent to Kids Care at 3:05 pm and 12:45 pm on half - days
