5 Study Guide Be able to tell me how self-understanding changes/develops from infancy to late childhood (also how consciousness fits in, how it is measured in infants). Same thing for understanding others (changes in early to late childhood). Be able to tell me what older children know and can do that younger children don’t/can’t. What is the difference between self-esteem and self-concept, and how are they measured. Know what influences self esteem, what does and does not correlate with self-esteem (good, inflated, low), what causes different types of self-esteem, and what the consequences of low and inflated self esteem are. Also be able to list ways to increase self-esteem and know what doesn’t increase self-esteem.
