Connective Tissue
2
What is Connective Tissue?
Helps bind the body together When connective tissue in the subcutaneous layer is broken down it contributes to wrinkles It consists of living cells as well as non living matrix and fibres.
3
Fibrous Connective Tissue
High tensile strength due to high concentration of collegous fibres. Fibrous connective tissue is mainly found in ligaments and tendons. The majority does not contain living cells. It is mainly made up of polysaccharides, proteins and water. Collagen is a fibrous connective tissue found around organs It is fibrous and hard and contains fibroblast, nuclei and collagen bundles.
4
Arelor Connective Tissue
It is loose, soft connective tissue. It helps to form the framework of the organs and surrounds blood vessels and nerves. It is made up of one cell thick, in the lungs and aids gaseous exchange.
5
Adipose Connective Tissue
It is the fat tissue found in the subcutaneous layer, and helps insulate the body. Covers the heart and kidneys, and helps to protect vital organs. It is stored in the body to use as a reserve for energy.
6
Lymphatic Connective Tissue
It is part of the bodies immune system, it helps to protect from bacteria and foreign bodies. It is rich in lymphocytes.
7
Cartilage Connective Tissue
It is found at the end of bones and helps to connect the bones. It contains cells called chondocyctes. The connective tissue does not contain blood vessels, so if damaged it wont heal quickly. Found mainly in the ears and nose. Acts as a shock absorber. Found in-between the discs of the back
8
Bone Connective Tissue
The connective tissue contains college and calcium, which helps give the bone its firmness. Bone connective tissue is a channel for nerves and blood vessels. It’s a special type of cartilage Inside the tissue collagenous fibres and mineral salts help to provide rigidity and strength
