Appendix 1 – Merger update for member practices Update on Merger of Herefordshire and Worcestershire CCGs 16 August 2019 On behalf of: NHS Herefordshire CCG, NHS Redditch and Bromsgrove CCG, NHS South Worcestershire CCG and NHS Wyre Forest CCG

2 Member practice vote In June and July the CCGs sought member practice support of CCG merger in April We are pleased to announce an overwhelming support of the proposal as follows: CCG In favour Against Herefordshire CCG 19 1 Redditch & Bromsgrove CCG 21 South Worcestershire CCG 26 5 Wyre Forest CCG 11

3 NHSE/I process Having secured support from member practices, we are now going through NHSE/I formal approval process. NHSE/I will decide whether to approve our application by the end of October 2020. At a recent checkpoint meeting, NHSE/I were very positive about our progress and encouraged the CCGs to keep moving at pace, including the recruitment to Herefordshire & Worcestershire CCG’s Governing Body positions.

5 Governing Body structure - key principles
Clinical majority will be maintained at all times (9 clinicians, 7 non-clinicians) 4 Elected GPs (+ Clinical Chair, + Medical Director) 2 Governing Body GPs appointed as Clinical County Leads Consistent with other CCGs nationally Structure supported by all current GB members

6 Elected GP Leads One GP per locality (current CCG) elected on HWCCG Governing Body Elected by member practices (one vote per practice, weighted in relation to registered population) Elected GP Leads will appoint CCG Chair They will provide a key link between CCG Governing Body and GP Members Elections due to start in September

7 CCG Chair Appointed by elected GP Leads Must be a clinician
Sound knowledge of local population Strong leadership skills

8 Next steps & timescales
Milestone Timescale Merger application submitted to NHSE/I 23 August 2019 Regional merger application panel meets 13 September 2019 Election of GP Leads September/ October 2019 Appointment of CCG Chair October/ November 2019 New CCG Constitution drafted and shared with member practices Outcome of merger application announced Recruitment of Lay Members November/ December 2019
