Alignment of κ goniometer
Using the PYTHON script XOalign.py (written by P. Legrand) we regularly “set” crystals to collect Bijvoet pairs close in time (images courtesy of F. Rey). Beamline staff watch to ensure that there are no collisions – no automatic procedure at present.

Collect data around φ or ω(selectable from data collection GUI).
Can currently collect -100 < ω < 100. For low symmetry spacegroups where κ = 0, we can offset φ to complete 360o data collection. Sample viewing camera “OK” but not good – we need to improve visualisation and crystal alignment to fully exploit the gonio.

Agreement signed [1/5/2008] with Global Phasing to collaborate on the exploitation of the flexibility of our full κ goniostat and on implementing complex data collection protocols for challenging projects. The work of the “Kappa working group” forms an essential part of our future plans. We hope to contribute to future developments in the kappa working group.
