(A) Defective sperm aggregation of Adam2-/- or Adam3-/- sperm. Wild-type (WT), Adam2-/-, and Adam3-/- sperm were observed under a light microscope after incubation at 37°C for 10 minutes in M16 medium. Typical sperm are magnified in the insets. Bars = 100 μm. (B) The levels of sperm aggregation and motility were represented as a mean percentage of the control (WT) ± SD. Experiments were repeated three times (each time with sperm from a different male mouse). (C) The levels of sperm aggregation after incubation for 0, 10, 30, and 60 minutes were presented as a mean percentage of the control (WT at 30 minutes). After 60 minutes of incubation, sperm were subjected to pipetting and sperm grouping was monitored further. 2KO = Adam2-/-; 3KO = Adam3-/-.
