P12022: Wireless Power Transmission Device Test Rig
Erin McNally Pedro Baez Paul Parthemore Kris Stichter
2
Overall Objective Build a test rig that is capable of quantifying the performance of a wireless power transmission device, while simulating operating conditions for the device
3
Customer Needs
4
Engineering Specifications
5
Test Rig Design
6
Final Product Pneumatic air cylinders clamp device in place
Linear stage allows vertical motion to set gap distance Generator clamp sits on turntable to allow induced torque measurement Motor clamp suspended from load cell to allow compression force measurement
7
User Interface
8
Calibration Challenges
Thermocouples Difficulty in holding water at constant temperature for accurate measurements Counter Could not calibrate with Hall Effect sensors until device was complete Difficulty in using tachometer with device
9
Calibration Results
10
Budget Initial Budget: $1,000 Final Expenses: $813.29
Final expenses slightly above initial estimate because of shipping costs
11
Conclusions Input power and output power are not measurable because P12026 did not provide leads and the voltage was not within measurable range The generator RPM cannot currently be measured because the Hall Effect sensor is not working properly
12
Future Work Recalibrate thermocouples with better temperature source
Make/buy amplifier for 50 lb load cell Modify data output to Excel
