1 ATLAS Software & Computing
Central Services ATLAS Software & Computing (CERN) 01/10/2017 Christopher Jon Lee on behalf of the Software and Computing Infrastructure Support Group University of Cape Town, South Africa

2 2019 – OS updates so far CC7 updates - December 2020 – END OF SUPPORT New Projects. Please remember CREM needs to approve. ~ 470 machines in total 227 currently CC7 MOST of the big services are almost finished. Those left are “user” owned machines. Will NOT be forcing.. But they should remember its their responsibility to migrate, and support will STOP LXPLUS6 will stop April 2020

3 2019 – OS updates so far Linux Support
Upstream RHEL8 available since 13/05/2019 CentOS 8 likely to be available around Q3 Status page : CC7: CERN CentOS 7, supported until 30/04/2024 Current release: 7.6 (no extended support possible) SLC6: Scientific Linux CERN 6, supported until 30/11/2020 Current release: 6.10 (no extended support planned) SLC5: Scientific Linux CERN 5, extended support ended 31/03/2019 Repositories to be move to archives before the summer More information:

4 MAlt Microsoft Alternative project Started 20th November 2017
Microsoft changed their licence policy Means CERN is no longer considered an Academic Institute Effective as of March 2019. Replaced by a new contract based on user numbers. Increasing the license costs by more than a factor of ten Full news and updates can be found here

5 AFS status Need more information, Following up For now we know this:

6 Wigner Migration Going well, MUST be completed by August Current list: | aianalytics | cern-wigner-a | aiatlas | cern-wigner-b | aipanda | cern-wigner-b | aipanda | cern-wigner-b | aipanda | cern-wigner-b | aipanda | cern-wigner-b | aipanda | cern-wigner-b | aipanda | cern-wigner-a | aipanda | cern-wigner-a | rucio-analytix | cern-wigner-a | rucio-nagios-prod-01 | cern-wigner-a

7 Build Service Status Due to CPU steal, IT have given us access to a special area with zero over commit First 10 nodes have been created (aibuild16-0[03-012]) Current performance tests with the 16 core nodes are promising. 75 nodes in voatlasbuild/build ~1200 cores in total. To be re-evaulated. 18 active nightly branches.   Only 6 nightly branches are on CentOS7. 14 SLC6 machines and ~ 11 CentOS7 machines CI System: ~ 70% of jobs on CentOS7. 16 CentOS7 machines and 6 SLC6 machines Revised total: 27 CentOS6 nodes and 20 SLC6 nodes. See Next talk by Alex Undrus for more details
