1. Sailing
An important part of sailing is the angle of the wind to the sails. The diagram shows the different names (points of sail) given to the directions that boats will sail in relation to the wind.

Teaching Idea:
Pretend the classroom is a boat. Decide on the bow, stern, port and starboard.
Play a game of “Simon says…” giving students directions of where to move. Eg Simon says go to the stern.
For capsize students need to sit on the ground.
Extend by including directions such as “make a quarter turn to starboard”
