4. 2 Peter 1:19-21 We have also a more sure word of prophecy; whereunto you do well that you take heed, as unto a light that shineth in a dark place, until the day dawn, and the day star arise in
your hearts:
Knowing this first, that no prophecy of the scripture is of any private interpretation.
For the prophecy came not in old time by the will of man: but holy men of God spake as they were moved by the Holy Spirit.

John writes 5:39  Search the scriptures; for in them you think you have eternal life:
and they are they which testify of Me. 
46  For had you believed Moses, you would have believed Me: for he wrote of Me.
47  But if you believe not his writings
how shall you believe My words?

"To the law and to the testimony: if they speak not according to this word, it is because there is no light in them." Isaiah 8:20. The people of God are directed to the Scriptures as their safeguard against the influence of false teachers and the delusive
power of spirits of darkness.
So closely will the counterfeit resemble the true that it will be impossible to distinguish between them except by the Holy Scriptures.
By their testimony every statement and every miracle must be tested.”
