Morning Arrival •Doors open at 8:15 in the morning. All students who arrive prior to 8:15 must wait in the cafeteria. •Students should arrive prepared to learn. • Students must put away their belongings and begin morning work. • Instruction begins at 8:30 promptly.

Drop off/pick up • In an effort to maintain safety, there is NO parking, stopping or standing allowed in the areas marked which are located on Morningside Drive. • If needed, you may park in rear parking lot of the school or use the city parking lot on Westward Drive. • Students should have their backpacks and lunchboxes easily accessible.

Dismissal •If you are going to change the method in which your child is being dismissed it is required to notify the school in writing. Please send me an . • Students will not be sent to aftercare unless they are pre-registered. • Children under 18 are not allowed to pick up students.

Early Dismissal •No students shall be released the final thirty minutes of the school day unless authorized by administration (i.e. emergency, sickness). •Students who wish to be dismissed early are required to provide proof of a medical/dental appointment within 48 hours of such appointment. Notes submitted more than 48 hours after an early dismissal will not be accepted, and the early dismissal will be deemed unexcused. •After 5 unexcused early dismissals, the student will be issued a referral form that will be placed in the student’s permanent record.

No Rolling Book Bags • In order for students to be exempt from the “no rolling book bag” rule, a doctor must fill out the Physician Statement Form available at the front office. • Students with a rolling book bag who do not have the required form on file will be asked to call home for a replacement book bag. • We appreciate your cooperation in ensuring our students’ safety.

Attendance Policy •If your child is absent, please send a written note within 48 hours of your child returning to school. •An absence will be excused if it is one of the following: death in the family, illness, doctor’s appointment. •Please note, a vacation or business trip is NOT an excused absence

Perfect Attendance Policy
• ISAAC awards Perfect Attendance to students with zero absences and zero tardies. • Please note that the ISAAC policy is different from the standard MDCPS policy for awarding perfect attendance. • To ensure students make their best effort to be present at school every day, referrals will be issued for the following: 5 unexcused absences = 1 referral 10 tardies = 1 referral 10 early releases = 1 referral

Homework •Homework is very important. It reinforces skills that they are learning. Please don’t go ahead. •Home learning is given Monday-Thursday. Home Learning will be posted on my school page each Friday afternoon. •You will need to print them out and they need to be completed and turned in by Friday. Math homework will be taken out from their workbook each day. •School website

Super Kid •Every Friday we will have Super Kid!
•Your child may bring a snack. •Super Kid is used as a behavior incentive, if your child’s behavior does not warrant super kid nor bring in their completed homework packet, they will not participate. Super Kid

Weekly Grades •Grades and attendance may be verified on the Electronic Grade Book through the Parent Portal. •You may set up automatic notification in the Parent Portal •Students will receive one grade per week in each subject area.

0-59% F I will send home copies of D’s and F’s so that you may review them with your child.

Honor Roll • 1st, 2nd, and 3rd quarter Honor Roll will be held inside classrooms with students only. • This allows: Immediate feedback to students for a job well done. Inclusive classroom environment for peers to congratulate and encourage each other. More time for classroom instruction. • 4th Quarter and Year-Round Honor Roll will be held in the cafeteria followed by the Book Fair. Parents will be invited to participate in these end of year events.

Uniform PICTURE DAY: WHITE OR RED POLO ONLY! Tops:
• Polo shirts must be red, white, green or royal blue and embroidered with the school name and logo. • All shirts must be tucked inside pants at all times. PICTURE DAY: WHITE OR RED POLO ONLY! Bottoms: • Pants/skorts must be navy blue. • Belts must be worn at all times. They must be plain, black, and fastened securely at waist level. Shoes: • Black closed toe shoes or sneakers must be worn. • No sandals, crocs, boots, heels or platform shoes are allowed. Sweaters: • Navy blue uniform sweatshirts and sweaters with embroidered school logo may be worn.

Field Trips •It is of utmost importance that you adhere to the assigned deadlines. We are required to submit all field trip paper work one week prior to the scheduled field trip. • Students will participate in three fieldtrips this year. •Chaperones will be selected through a lottery. •You must register through the student/parent portal and receive Level 1 clearance. •Check the office to verify your clearance.

Volunteer Hours •30 volunteer hours must be completed per family.
•Hours are divided amongst siblings. •You will be notified of several opportunities to volunteer your time.

Summer Packet •Summer Reading work will be due by Friday, August 23rd.
•New students to our school can turn in the work assigned by their previous school or they may log on to our school website and view the assigned summer reading activities for incoming first graders under Students.

Communication •Parent communication is vital in order for us to have a successful school year. • Please check your child’s home learning folder daily for any correspondence. Please send your correspondence/monies inside your child’s home learning folder. • • Phone messages will be used to keep you informed of current events as they unfold. Please update any changes in phone numbers with the main office. • I am available in the mornings Monday- Friday from 7:45-8:10 and afternoons from 2:15-3:00. • The school calendar and the cafeteria calendar is available on the school website.

Parent Communication We are lucky to live in a world full of technology and mass communication. We ask that you please be mindful of what is posted and texted through social media or group chats, such as What’s App or Messenger. Should any situations arise or should you have any questions or concerns, please come to us first for clarifications or answers. This will avoid the spread of misinformation or rumors.

Online Store $15 paper fee has been added in lieu of the 5 reams that are usually asked for as part of the supplies. This will alleviate storage challenges
