2. FAMILY FARM-DEFINITION ACCORDING TO RO NRDP 2014-2020
The agricultural holding belonging to the family enterprise/business or to the legal entity whose associates are exclusively members of the same family;
The economic size of the family farm is between 4, ,000 S.O.;
Members of the same family are the spouse and relatives up to and including the third degree.

Ensures continuity in rural areas (country life);
Ensures healthy food;
Ensures the education of new generations;
Preserves traditions and ensures historical continuity;
Creates public goods;
Preserves the environment and biodiversity;
Provides quality goods.

4. FINANCING OPPORTUNITIES THROUGH THE NRDP 2014-2020
Sub-measure 4.1. “Investments in agricultural holdings”. With the overall/general objective of restructuring and increasing the competitiveness of the agricultural sector - distinct allocation for family farms.
Sub-measure 6.3. “Business start-up aid for development of small farms”. The applicant holds an agricultural holding with an economic size between 4,000 – 11,999 S.O.

5. SUB-MEASURE 4.1. “INVESTMENTS IN AGRICULTURAL HOLDINGS”
Non-refundable public support:
The share of non-refundable public support is 50% of total eligible expenditure and shall not exceed:
in case of projects providing simple purchases – maximum 500,000 EUR, respectively 100,000 EUR for small farms;
in case of complex projects involving constructions-mounting – maximum 1,000,000 EUR for the vegetal sector, respectively 200,000 EUR for small farms in the vegetal sector and maximum EUR 1,500,000 EUR for greenhouses and the livestock sector, respectively 300,000 EUR for small farms in the livestock sector;
in case of projects providing for the creation of short supply chains – maximum 2,000,000 EUR, respectively 400,000 EUR for small farms;
In NRDP family farms are identified as a priority. The distinct allocation dedicated to this category of farms was established by consulting the Monitoring Committee.
Thus, for family farms the amount that was bid is million EUR (4 sessions in the period).
So far, 135 contracts have been signed, belonging to family farms with a public value of 44.8 million EUR.

6. SUB-MEASURE 6.3. “BUSINESS START-UP AID FOR DEVELOPMENT OF SMALL FARMS”
Beneficiaries:
The financial support provided for this measure is granted to farmers who hold in property and/use an agricultural holding that falls under the category of small farm. The size of a small farm is between 4,000 – 11,999 S.O.
The non-refundable public support is granted for a period of 3 or 5 (fruit sector) years.
The non-refundable public support is up to 15,000 EUR for an agricultural holding.
Support will be granted in two tranches as follows:
75% of the maximum support amount when receiving the financing decision;
25% of the maximum support amount in maximum 3 or 5 (fruit sector) years from receiving the financing decision.
As a result, under sM 6.3:
1,031 projects of family farms were selected out of a total of 7,691 submited projects.
The amount consumed: 15.5 million EUR.

7. FAMILY FARMS IN ROMANIA IN THE CONTEXT OF THE NEW CAP
Consolidation of family farms on the market by increasing their competitiveness through association and innovation;
Increasing the income for family farms, by diversification of activities;
Farmer association in order to create short supply chains to help them better sell their products.
