15 Sound Buttons It’s one thing to know the sounds but another to put this into practice when reading. This is why we teach sound buttons. A dot when the sound only uses 1 letter. A line when more than one letter. Maybe…parents have some scrap paper to try placing sound buttons. The words are from an actual previous test.

21 Alien Words The test is to test phonics, not reading so they use alien words so the ch can’t guess/know the words. This doesn’t mean reading doesn’t help!

The Test Week commencing: 10th June 2019 As you know, we’ve been doing practice tests through the year so the children are used to the format. This means that this week won’t be anything hugely different or scary for the kids.
