1 sUAS-EOTACS Payloads Capability Collaboration Event
24 July 2019

2 Overview Current MISO systems are stand alone and disconnected
Reliant on traditional and historic methods Large Air Drops Mass terrestrial broadcast Emerging airborne broadcast One-way communication Mostly focused on large scale distribution sUAS offers precise dissemination in denied areas Seeking methods for “feedback” and assessment

3 Group 1: Loud Speaker, Leaflet Delivery, Internet of Things Receiver

4 Loudspeaker How we currently use loudspeakers
Mounted & dismounted (manpack) End user device is an iPod touch or MP3 player transitioning to Note 8 (FCD-W) Ability to connect with multiple speakers simultaneously for broader reach Ability to stream pre-recorded messages or use a microphone in real-time Airdroppable variant (scatterable media) in development The current limitations of how we use them Large, heavy devices with limited use in denied/restricted areas How we envision the use of loudspeakers on sUAS platforms Ideal for denied/restricted areas Targeted messaging with range of volume controlled remotely Maintains ability to stream re-recorded messages or broadcast a live message Potential listen back capabilities

5 Leaflet Delivery How we currently deploy leaflets
C-130 & MRE box of leaflets B52 & PDU 5 full of paper leaflets The current limitations of how we deploy them Reliant on heavy airlift Reliant on Army riggers and methods How we envision the use of leaflet delivery on sUAS platforms Payload on a UAS with container that drops physical leaflets & digital scatterable media Intended for targeted messages to a small audiences; could deliver different messages to different areas

6 Internet of Things Receiver
How we currently use IoT receivers Currently no capability in existing MISO systems The current limitations of how we use them Future plan is dependent on integration into Multi-Mission Payload (in turn dependent on external air support) Lack of Comms Architecture How we envision the use of IoT receivers on sUAS platforms Receiver integrated on a UAS platform with ability to collect metadata from hundreds of scatterable media sources at once Relay/transmit data from Scatterable Media LoRa provides a wider area network for scatterable media; GPS enabled

7 Group 2: Broadcasting and Camera/FMV Capabilities

8 Systems Capable of Broadcasting
How we currently use broadcast capable systems Terrestrial: FM, TV, Cell Future aerial: C-130, MQ-1C Payload includes FM/AM, cellular text/robo call, digital Television The current limitations of how we use them Aircraft availability Antenna size Broadcast range can be limited based on aircraft weight/size limitations How we envision the use of broadcast capable systems on sUAS platforms FM broadcast of 25nm TV broadcast of 15nm Cellular broadcast range of 8nm

9 Camera How we currently use cameras
PSYOP teams carry mobile media kits for still and video footage The current limitations of how we use them Operator on-site manually taking photos/video streams Reliant on face to face access to desired target area How we envision the use of cameras/FMV on sUAS platforms Useful for assessments and gathering material for message Ability to transmit material for SA and media creation Transferable to print/digital media that can run for min. 15 sec.

10 Group 3: FLIR/Skyraider in Black Sea
