1 STUDENT COUNCIL

2 WHAT WE DO… Advance the education of students.
Promote and actively pursue the betterment of the welfare of students. Represent the interest of our members and act as a channel of communication in dealing with the University and other bodies. Promote, encourage and facilitate student Clubs and Societies equally.

3 DEPARTMENT REPRESENTATIVE
What do Department Reps do?  Bring forward their own department issues and interests to Council. Liaise with Class Reps within their department. Create a Facebook group / WhatsApp account for the Class Reps to have informal chats. Attend Class Rep training. Introduce themselves to the Head of Department via and in person. Request that they are invited to course board meetings. Liaise directly with the Head of Department to offer constructive feedback and highlight unresolved Class Rep issues. Liaise with VP Academic Officer when they have difficulty resolving an issue. Attend and participate at Student Council and relevant council sub-committee meetings. Hold the ULSU Executive to account!

4 INTEREST GROUP COUNCILLOR
What do Interest Group Reps do?  Get feedback from the wider student body for their particular interest area. Research and promote relevant initiatives within UL and outside of UL that benefit students. Liaise and meet regularly with their own interest group and Chairperson. Attend and participate at Student Council and relevant Council sub-committee meetings. Hold the ULSU Executive to account!

8 COMMUNICATION Use the Facebook group.
Read all papers before a meeting. Arrive on time or send apologies in advance. Introduce yourself to whoever you are sitting beside, you are a team, all working towards the same ideals. Dept Reps – get to know your Class Reps. Interest Group Councillors – get to know your Chairperson. Set up groups, stayed focused on your goals. Ask student officer team and/or staff for support.
